Rob Haward has worked at organic veg box company Riverford for 19 years, and has been the CEO for the last decade, through the transition to employee ownership. Prior to Riverford, he spent eight years at the Soil Association – championing the growth of organic farming. Inspired by a childhood in Africa and South East Asia, Rob developed a love of nature at an early age. He did degrees in agriculture and entomology, which took him in the direction of organic farming – a proven way to grow food while working with nature rather than against it.
Rob jumped at the chance join the Riverford team in 2004, to lead the plans to expand farming and deliveries in the Midlands. He is passionate about business that can be force for good; his love of Riverford stems from a deep respect for the way that founder Guy Singh-Watson and the Riverford team have proven that you can balance deep ethical commitments with successful, profitable business. Rob is also an advocate for employee ownership as a brilliant way to get staff more engaged in the running and performance of the business – for the benefit of all.
